"Our state-of-the-art technologies enable us to innovate faster, reduce product development cycles and shorten

Part 1

of our series about our interdisciplinary specialists and their contributions at Tom Capital

Bendri Batti heads our IT and Product Management. He has more than 10 years of experience initiating and delivering sustained results and effective change for companies in the financial services industry. His expertise lies in strategizing and leading cross-functional teams to bring about fundamental change and improvement in processes and profitability – both as a leader and IT expert.

Before joining Tom Capital Bendri was employed by Indexium, a joint venture between SIX Swiss Exchange and Deutsche Börse. As head of multinational software engineering teams, he was responsible to deliver the Innovative Index Platform for SIX, Deutsche Börse and STOXX indices. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences, Kaiserslautern.

Bendri started at our company in December 2015.

His vision was to build an asset management platform with a unique technology that offers a trustworthy and safe solution, which can be custom tailored for any purpose. All of which is crucial in the age of globalization and digitization.

Bendri has taken the lead in the company’s transformation to using Jupyter-Notebooks as the go-to-tool for any research or portfolio management. Running on a cluster of computers, this facilitates the testing of new ideas, running complex simulations, backtesting, portfolio construction and data-analysis, all without IT intervention.

With the proven release management and monitoring systems, the business teams at Tom Capital keep the ownership of their own algorithms within the research cluster as well as in the production system. There is no need for the IT team to re-implement the business logic. Instead, IT can focus on monitoring the robustness and correctness of the running algorithm.

The Tom Capital IT platform is built with state-of-the-art technology using cloud, docker, automatic testing & deployment, distributed systems and web-technology. Bendri decided to design the backend using microservices with RESTful-APIs built in the Python 3 programming language.  This effectively supports the scalability and continuous delivery of the system. The frontend is built on top of the popular React and VueJS frameworks.
